- Personalised content including your timetable, library record and news from YorkExtra. This will be particularly valuable as the desktop widget for YorkExtra is no longer available for PCs that have been upgraded to Windows 7.
- Upcoming public lectures, latest press releases and the University Magazine.
- Quick contacts search and quick links to core services.
- A refreshed design throughout the staff site, providing quick access to frequently used services and content from every page.
- Improvements to the search facility to bring you more relevant results.
Content from the current site can now be accessed from the left-hand menu and footer. We hope that the homepage will be a useful starting point for staff, giving them an overview of what’s going on at the University.

The development for this is continuing alongside development of the student site as a collaboration between the Web Office and IT Services.
Your feedback is essential to us creating an effective site for staff. You can send it to us via email to web-office@york.ac.uk or, once it’s launched, via feedback form.

Think the new home page is very user friendly and looks really professional, well done to all concerned.
ReplyDeleteSigh, I don't want a "personal" web page. What I want is for the simple list of useful links which used to be on the staff page to be there without having to go through the annoying process of logging in.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to login you can still access all of the links that used to be on the homepage - the most popular links are available from the top right of each page on the staff site, and the rest of the content can be accessed via the menu in the left hand side or the sitemap in the footer.
DeletePlease could you put back Planon on main staff page - I can't find it.
ReplyDeletethanks
As a new member of staff I like the look and usability of the personalised site. I have, however, found it frustrating that I have been unable to access eVision because I am, in turn, unable to access the data protection tutorial. In yet another request for my log-in details the computer says ‘no’, despite these being correct. It is then difficult to establish who can help me resolve this.
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate the need for separate requests being needed for certain domains within eVision, (confidentiality/security etc.) but I wonder if there is any way that once granted, one initial log-in would be suffice for the systems involved to allow the necessary access.
It would be good not to have to log in twice to get access to the staff telephone list!!
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for the extreme delay in responding to these most recent comments - Blogger didn't alert us to them having been posted and we've not done a lot of blogging lately so hadn't been into the system to notice them.
ReplyDeleteClare - once you've logged in, the 'Popular links' box has links to Planon room bookings and repairs & maintenance. I think those are the most commonly used Planon features. Other are linked from the 'Administrative services' page, or a search for Planon would get you to the main gateway into the system.
Anonymous (1) - we're glad you like the site, thanks. e:Vision is administered by a different team I'm afraid, but IT Services (itsupport@york.ac.uk) should be able to help with log-in problems.
Anonymous (2) - we hear you! We had hoped to be able to remove the double log in, but unfortunately for technical reasons it's not possible just yet :(
