New Starter - Chris Marsh

I've just started in the Digital team as a Front-end Web Developer - writing HTML, CSS and Javascript. My background is working for web agencies, developing sites and delivering to clients. It will be a huge change to work on a single website, but I'm looking forward to it.

We've got huge plans for updating the design, structure and deployment of the UoY website, and I've got a lot of ideas about the role the Digital team will play in this exciting new phase.

I'm an alumnus of the University, although it's nearly 15 years since I graduated. It's great to be back and I'm looking forward to getting reacquainted with life on campus.

New team member - Christine Comrie

Christine Comrie
Hello!  I’ve recently joined the team as Digital Editor for Students.  It’s my job to improve the ‘digital experience’ for students whilst they’re at York - so that means I’ll be making sure all information students need whilst they’re studying with us can be easily found online and that it looks pretty.

I’ve crossed the border from the University of Leeds, where I was Information Officer for the Jisc Regional Support Centre based there.  Hopefully, I’ll be putting some of the work done by Jisc on the ‘digital student’ into practice.

I’m looking forward to meeting colleagues and getting your ideas on the kinds of improvements we can make.  Please do get in touch!

Hello from a newbie

I've recently joined the team as Digital Editor for Recruitment. My main responsibility is to look after the content for the study section of the University website in collaboration with colleagues across the University. One of my first big tasks is to do a content audit of the study section. I'm a big fan (sadly)of content audits so I'm looking forward to getting started on this.

Prior to joining York I worked at the University of Bradford for three years as a web content editor, and before that I worked at Leeds Metropolitan University. As you can tell I love working in higher education. In terms of digital my interests lie in Content Strategy, IA and user experience. I'm really excited to have joined the team at York and I'm looking forward to working on some interesting content projects.

The Social Web Team

You can now hear the latest tales from the basement of Heslington Hall on our official Twitter account.

We’ll use it to keep our followers updated about new and current projects we’re working on, the latest news and information from the team, and our thoughts on web issues and developments.

Support queries and requests for work are tough to answer in 140 characters, so please send those to web-office@york.ac.uk as normal.

You can follow us at @UoYwebteam

You can also see the latest University news on the University's official twitter, @UniofYork, and Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/universityofyork.

New team member - Helen Fisher

Two weeks ago I started as Web Project Assistant in the Web Office, and as a new member of the team I’ve been asked to write a blog post as a short introduction to myself.

I’ve worked with web content and various content management systems for the past six years. My last role was as a Web and Project Assistant at the University of Leeds. I’ve been involved with most parts of the web life cycle but have a particular interest in information architecture and content strategy.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be starting to work on a variety of projects which I’m looking forward to getting involved in. I'm still learning my way around and getting to grips with a new place to work so feel free to say hello and help with directions!
