A few days ago, we noticed that where there had previously been a complete void, Google Maps now includes coverage of the university campus:

Well, sort of anyway. There are a few big omissions, most notably that the whole of the Heslington East campus development is missing. Also absent are footpaths, so directions aren't much use unless you fancy taking a very leisurely stroll.
Promising stuff though, hopefully the data will improve over time.
Edge Hill's coverage improved significantly the other week too. I've not been able to work out when it's from - a four year old building is missing but the route taken by the Street View trike was added.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I find most amusing is that out of all the buildings on our campus, there's only one that has been around for more that 60 years. That one still hasn't made it onto the map, and it has been there since the 16th century!
